Public-Sector Pension Plans
Public-sector pension plans are for employees in the Québec public and parapublic sectors (public service, education, health and social services sector).
You are a member of a public-sector pension plan if you are in one of the following situations:
- you became a member of one of those plans as part of your employment in the public sector;
- you accrue benefits under one of those plans;
- you have benefits under one of those plans even if you stopped accruing them.
You can also be a beneficiary under one of the plans if you receive benefits as:
- a retiree;
- a surviving spouse;
- a child of a deceased parent;
- an heir or heiress.
Retraite Québec administers all public-sector pension plans, including the most common, that is, the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan (RREGOP).
