Regulatory amendments to the RREGOP and the PPMP
Changes to your pension plan
The Regulation under the Act respecting the Government and
Public Employees Retirement Plan and the Regulation under the Act
respecting the Pension Plan of Management Personnel were
amended on November 23, 2016.
Increase in rates for certain service buy‑backs
Pension plans concerned: RREGOP, PPMP, RPSO, PPCT, TPP and CSSP
Effective date: April 1, 2017
Further to the amendments, the rates used to calculate the cost
of certain service buy-backs will change on April 1, 2017.
The changes affect the following service buy‑backs:
- Absence without pay for which the application was received
more than 6 months following the end of the absence
- Parental leave for which the application was received more
than 6 months following the end of the absence
- Compassionate care leave under way on January 1, 2012, or
that began after that date, and for which the application was
received more than 6 months following the end of the absence
- Service accrued at a research centre
- Service accrued at an organization before it became subject
to the pension plan
- Service accrued as a casual employee.
For 2017, two tariff schedules will be used to calculate the cost
of a buy-back listed above. The schedule used will depend on whether
Retraite Québec receives the buy‑back application before April 1, 2017, or on or after April 1, 2017.
